Arvon, renowned for its creative writing courses, is returning to Birmingham this winter for a special writing weekend, focused on short fiction, in partnership with Writing West Midlands.
Last year’s sell-out weekend at the Ikon Gallery was a huge success; one participant had this to say after the course:
“I just want to write and write and not put it down, so as you can see I am truly inspired and my confidence has soared. ... I can say hand on heart that this has been the most inspiring and exciting time for me, and I am so thrilled and grateful to have had this opportunity. Ideas are constantly popping into my brain and I always have my notebook at the ready. I am more determined than ever to pursue my creative writing, I wish I hadn’t waited for so long but now that I have started I am going to write my first novel. I’d recommend an Arvon course to anyone.”
This year’s three day non-residential course will take place at Ikon in Fri 8 Sun 10 November. There are two full grants available to cover the fees for local writers who would not otherwise be able to afford the course, email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Explore the craft of writing short fiction, from flash fiction to short stories with writers Courttia Newland and Jenn Ashworth. You’ll experience a powerful mix of workshops, tutorials with highly respected authors, readings and time and space to write.
Course fee: £270 (lunch & dinner included) Click here for more information or phone 0207 324 2554.
